The initiative is called Freedom 250, marking 250 years of US independence, and it launched in Efrat on February 27, 2026: one day when an Embassy team physically came to the town and handled passports, registering babies born abroad ⁦(CRBA)⁩, and notary services, with nobody driving to Jerusalem. A second round took place on June 30, 2026, again in Efrat and also in Bethlehem.

Beit Shemesh is on the list, but no date yet

Alongside Efrat, the Embassy announced further locations for future service days: Beit Shemesh, Beitar Illit, Haifa, Netanya, and Jerusalem. This is an official announcement, not a rumor. But as of this writing, the Embassy has not published an exact date for Beit Shemesh. The Efrat experience shows that weeks, not days, pass between the announcement and the day itself, and registration closes fast.
